 Thanks for reading our newsletter! We have received lots of positive feedback regarding our recent client newsletters, so we will continue to put the effort into publishing these - in the hope that they provide you with useful information for your online business. Is You Website Legal? In this newsletter, we want to cover a matter of growing importance - that of making sure that your website and e-mails comply with recent EU and Government legislation. From April 1st 2007, it has been a legal requirement that all business websites and e-mail correspondence display the same level of information as standard company headed paper. This means if you are a business website owner you must display the following information on your site and e-mail:
This information should be shown on your 'about us' page or if preferable on the footer of each page of the site. These details must also form part of your e-mail stationary. In addition to this requirement the Office of Data Protection also requires that business sites have a clearly labelled 'privacy statement'. We have not heard of any customer being fined for non compliance, however we have heard of a number of customers being asked to update their sites with these details. The fine for non compliance with this legislation may be up to euro2000.
